EXD / iPhone / Tapatalk

People have been asking about a mobile version of EXD for a while and I am going to look into doing that, however it's not something that vBulletin is designed to do (surprisingly enough as vB is great is most other regards).

In the mean time I have registered EXD with Tapatalk. Tapatalk is an iPhone/iPod Touch application that allows users to interact with their favorite forums (vB and phpBB supported) via their iPhone/iPod Touch. It makes browsing, posting, sending PMs, etc very slick and easy. The only real downside is that it is a user interface for the forums only (won't see anything else like the wiki, arcade, COTM section, DIYs, etc). Tapatalk seems to be dedicated to continually updating it and listening to feedback on their own forums.

Some custom modifications to forums will not work as well. For EXD the only problem seems to be the embedded YouTube videos (which you probably wouldn't want in a mobile version of the site anyway).

Small downside? The Tapatalk app is $2.99. However, it can be used with hundreds of forums on the internet, not just EXD. Perhaps other Hyundai forums will sign up with them (it's really easy).

Keep an eye on the ElantraXD Twitter account for tweets and here on the EXD Blog for posts with me giving codes away for it. And by this I mean a code I make up that you can PM me so that I can Paypal you $2.99 so that you can buy the app yourself. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to "gift" apps to people like you can with music via iTunes.

Thoughts?

Site downtime

Today we've had a couple of minutes here and there where the site wasn't responding. Including a 5-7 minute period just now. I'm working with the host who is going to install some updates to hopefully fix the problems. The site may be down every now and then tonight as we work on it. Thanks for the patience everyone.

New Members!

Lately we've been seeing an influx of new members at EXD. New members with all generations of Elantras which I think is great.

It will be nice to have a lot of Elantra Touring owners show up as sales increase and people are looking for a place to discuss their Tourings. So if you know anyone with an Elantra be sure you let them know about EXD!

New Kodak Zi8

Not so much EXD news as SuperGLS news here, but, I just got a Kodak Zi8k pocket HD cam. Now I wait for the mail.

I will use it to make amazing videos of amazing Elantras doing amazing things I'm sure. Be on the lookout at the EXD YouTube Group for all this amazingness in the upcoming weeks.

Check out a review and clip courtesy of Gizmodo.

EXD YouTube Group

Over at Cricforum (www.cricforum.com - the greatest cricket forum on the internet) the guys have a YouTube group set up where people can add relevant videos about cricket. I figured we could do something similar with ElantraXD and Elantra videos from YouTube.

I created the group at http://www.youtube.com/group/elantraxdstuff

Feel free to add as many videos as you guys like. I started by adding some random videos of Elantra stuff.

There are lots and lots of Elantra videos out there so I don't expect anyone to go through and add all of them, but if someone wants to then go for it.

If anything the ElantraXD YouTube group will be a good place to find any Elantra videos which I think would be cool. A "library" of Elantra YouTube videos if you will.

EXD Arcade Updated!

I've updated the ElantraXD.com Arcade today. Exciting news!

In addition all the scores have been reset so you can challenge for high scores again. New games will be added as well. Be sure to check out the EXD Arcade.

Welcome to the EXD Blog!

Time to start blogging about the wonderful world of EXD.

I guess I'll just post about the new features we have at EXD.

The ElantraXD aftermarket guide wiki is now live and here is what I have to say:

I've been thinking about this for over a year and actually started implementation last year as well. With recent motivation (and help from outside sources) I've been able to move forward with the implementation and its integration with the forums. This means if you are signed onto EXD then you will be automatically signed on to the wiki (and no new accounts can be created through the wiki itself).

I'd like to use the EXD wiki as a place for members to constantly keep up to date information about the aftermarket parts available for 2001+ Elantras (and older Elantras if people want). In addition, I figure we could move all of the Do It Yourself guides there as well to allow for expansion by members. Also included right now are common modifications and a list of aftermarket parts suppliers.

Here is the direct link:

http://www.elantraxd.com/wiki

Link to an example of an aftermarket part page. Things I think should be covered are name of the part, what model it fits, a description, where the part can be purchased (currently), pictures if possible, and links to any relevant EXD threads or posts:

http://www.elantraxd.com/wiki/index....illight_Covers

Link to an example of a DIY:

http://www.elantraxd.com/wiki/index....r_Installation

Please feel free to add information that is relevant, reliable, current, accurate or otherwise beneficial to the members of ElantraXD.

When adding information be sure to follow conventional WikiXD formatting, spelling and grammar guidelines. For instance, the bottom of each page should have a link back to its parent page and perhaps to the grandparent page as well. Please use correct English spelling and grammar when making edits or adding new information.

Please note: Any wiki-vandalism will result in you being banned from the wiki AND the forums.

So, does anyone think they'd be willing to give a hand with this? Either copying and pasting current DIYs, putting up new DIYs, or starting work compiling the lists and descriptions of aftermarket parts?

HTML (nor BB) coding will work on the wiki. Contributors will have to get used to using wiki formatting. For example, using two brackets around a term or terms will make it an internal link. Using one bracket around a term or terms will make it an external link. Using three apostrophes around text makes it bold. Etc etc. If anyone has any questions about formatting just ask and we can work through it together.

So, thoughts?
